Legislation
The State of Colorado is a very strong proponent of renewable energy. This was evidenced as Governor Ritter signed 18 bills into law this year. Bills addressed demand-side management; funding for biofuel research; the establishment of a Wind for Schools grant program; the creation of the Colorado Clean Energy Development Authority; an increase in renewable energy requirements for utilities from 10 to 20 percent by the year 2020; and many others.
