Research and Trade Organizations

Energy research organizations in Colorado are clustered in Jefferson County. Cutting edge research is being done by the internationally acclaimed National Renewable Energy laboratory, which has three national centers of excellence for renewable energy. They include the National Center for Photovoltaics, the National Bioenergy Center, and the National Wind Technology Center. The City of Golden, in Jefferson County is home to the Colorado School of Mines, which houses the Colorado Energy Research Institute, and the Colorado Fuel Cell Center. The City of Lakewood, in Jefferson County is home to the Colorado Energy Science Center, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Taken together, there is an incredible wealth of knowledge that spans virtually every aspect of the energy industry, from conventional, to demand-side management and energy efficiency, and all forms of renewable energy and thin film research and development.
